It's sunny here in southeast Michigan....and c-o-l-d!

Still no grandson unit...looks like it might be November 30th, as they predicted.

I have to take Scotia the cat to the vet...urinary tract troubles again...

Is Scotia male or female? On a wet-food only diet? Both sexes do better on all wet food if they suffer often from things like crystals. (I'm not a vet, but worked closely with a Very Good Vet for 4 years and have some insight in that I've seen "miracles.")

Hope your kitty will be okay. *love*

Scotia is a female, 5 years old, dark tortie. About a year ago, we took her to the vet because she had urination issues. Turns out she had SEVERAL bladder stones! So we had surgery done, and all has been fine up until yesterday or today.

Aw, poor baby. That's crystals built up. As she ages, it will likely worsen. If Scotia is not on an all-wet food diet, try it. It's often the only change needed to keep this painful situation from recurring.

We give her prescription wet food (she'll eat about a teaspoon at a time). We leave dry food down for all the cats (we have 3).

Last time we thought there might be an issue, we took her in, had her checked, and no issues, Now, though,, she's bleeding when she urinates. The vet kept her overnight so he could do an ultrasound with a full bladder and a urine check. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, the blood's not good, but not necessarily end of the road. I'm sorry she's so sick. Cats (most animals) can get so sick and hide their pain so well. UTI's are horrible for cats, but male cats will die in a shorter amount of time with that kind of infection.

I used to feed my cats like that- I have 2- left kibble out all day and fed wet twice a day. They were fine for years, but Ella's health changed and I needed to give her wet food only, so now, they're both on wet food only. I offer about one 5.5 ounce can total per cat, each day, and they generally eat that or a bit less. (It's important that cats don't think they have to ration, because they will. If you leave out a tiny amount, some cats will eat only a little at a time, OR they'll learn to do that, rationing some for later, even if it doesn't "make sense" due to other cats in the household.)

I think all animals still have "lizard brains." *snort*

I talk a lot. Anyway, I'm wishing all the best health to Scotia! I hope all is easy and smooth.

My friend's daughter had her baby the other day. A month late!

What?! They must've gotten the due date wrong, right?

I guess. Probably related to the certain amount of dysfunction in the family.
